Dr. Srinivasan

Dr. Aravind Srinivasan is a professor with the Department of Computer Science and the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies. He has experience in many research areas including algorithms and combinatorial optimization, probabilistic methods, algorithmic statistics, and machine learning, network science, algorithms, and technology for public health, algorithms and machine learning in (cancer) genomics, algorithms in networking (wireless and peer-to-peer), social networks, and distributed computing, AI and algorithms in E-commerce, and computational approaches to sustainable growth.

Ms. Inge

Ms. Igne leads information literacy instruction for first year and general education courses. She loves working with undergraduate students for anything related to research, using the libraries, or just adjusting to academic life on campus. She would also be happy to speak with instructors of first year/general education courses about how the Libraries can support their students. Her research interests include critical pedagogy, information literacy, student development, and the history of cultural institutions.

Aranya Banerjee: Mentor Liaison

Aranya is a Computer Science major from Olney, MD. He enjoys chess and table tennis among other activities. He is excited to see the impact of technology on medicine in the team's work at the intersection of computer science and the pharmaceutical sciences.

Kevin Boby: Ombudperson

Kevin is a Maryland native that's currently majoring in Computer Science and planning on minoring in Business Management. Outside of school though, he is a big sports fan and loves going to the Maryland games whenever he can with a couple friends. He is super excited to start working with the team, and is especially looking forward to learning new concepts in machine learning as the team develop computer models.

Samuel Lam: Website Liaison

Samuel, from Marriottsville, MD, is a computer science and music performance major, the two fields being equal passions of his. In whatever free time he has aside from studying and playing his cello, he loves to read, listen to and compose music, and puzzle. He is especially interested in learning more about computer models and data analytics as part of team TOXIC's research.

Jeffrey Li: Team Clerk

Jeffrey Li is a Computer Engineering major from Ellicott City, MD. He serves as one of the two Team Clerks for Team TOXIC. Outside of class, he enjoys participating in intramural sports such as volleyball and basketball, reading, and binging Netflix series. He is excited to work with the members of Team TOXIC to advance and contribute his understanding of machine learning.

David Polefrone: Team Liaison

David hails from Ellicott City, Maryland, and is pursuing a dual-degree in biochemistry and economics. On campus, he’s involved with the Maryland Debate Team, Student Government Association, Maryland Discourse, and College Democrats, among other activities. He’s also researching crystal structures and superconductivity in the lab of Dr. Efrain Rodriguez. He’s excited about Team TOXIC because of the potential policy implications of more accurate in silico testing methods.

Robert San: Website Liaison

Robert comes from Rockville, MD and is majoring in computer engineering. In his free time he enjoys playing the guitar, learning more about computer-aided design, and going to an on-campus fellowship. He is very interested in the production aspect of the computer model that Team TOXIC looks to build.

Erika Schlunk: Team Clerk

Erika is a math and computer science double major from Boyds Maryland and is one of two team clerks. She is especially excited about the possible aspects of machine learning in the project.

Adil Shoja: Web Liaison

Adil Shoja is a Computer Engineering major, born and raised in New York City. He currently resides in Montgomery Village, Maryland. He enjoys reading, tennis, and hanging out with friends in his spare time. He is looking forward to exploring the field of in silico toxicology with team TOXIC.

Ryan Wheeler: Library Liaison

Ryan is a Computer Engineering major from Bowie, MD. On campus he is involved with the Hyperloop team (UMDLoop). Off campus he is working for a Flight Software Co-op at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. He is especially excited to learn about machine learning algorithms in Team TOXIC’s research.

Sean Wynn: Ombudperson

Sean is A Chemical Engineering student from Baltimore County, MD. Outside of school, Sean likes to participate in various outdoor activities ranging from sports to camping. In addition to his interest in machine learning, Sean is looking forward to seeing how Team TOXIC can potentially change the realm of manufacturing medication, as it would drastically lower the cost of developing new pharmaceuticals.

Colin Yancey: Website Liaison

Colin is from Ellicott City and is majoring in physics with plans to double major with computational biology and to minor in math. He works for Losert Labs (a lab at UMD who’s P.I. is Dr. Losert); where he is currently building and programming an incubator for human cell experiments. He also 3D model parts for the lab and get them printed. Outside of that, his main hobby is programming extraneous software (websites, libraries, games, etc). He is excited to work on Team TOXIC because he recognizes that making the field of drug toxicity more autonomous will allow for accelerated prototyping and testing of drugs that heal crucial hardware failures in human beings.

Edwin Yu: Website Liaison

Edwin is a Computer Science major from Rockville, MD. He is an outgoing, collaborative, and commited student who is seeking to expand his technical skill-set in order to develop software that can one day have a positive impact on society. Edwin is exicted to contribute to the Machine Learning and Data analytics aspects of Team TOXIC's work.

Anne Zappas: Financial Liaison

Anne comes from Townson, MD and is majoring in Operations Management and Business Analytics. Her extracurriculars include being the Strategy Analyst on the Professional Affairs Committee in the Smith Undergraduate Student Association, the Music Director of Vintage Voices at the University of Maryland, and the Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Center for Health Information and Decision Systems. She looks forward to providing decision support tools that save time and money with Team TOXIC.
